The Importance of working.

Is it important that someone with a learning difficulty should be able to have paid employment?

It can be important for a person with learning difficulties to be able to work, as employment can provide numerous benefits for their well-being and quality of life.

Firstly, work can provide a sense of purpose and fulfilment, boosting self-esteem and confidence. It can also provide a social network, opportunities for personal growth, and a sense of belonging to a community.

Additionally, employment can help to develop skills and abilities, providing opportunities for growth and development. Work can also provide financial independence, which can be crucial for people with learning difficulties who may require additional support and resources to live independently.

However, it's important to note that people with learning difficulties may require additional support and accommodations in the workplace to succeed. This can include adjustments to the work environment, specialized training, or support from colleagues or supervisors. It's important for employers to create inclusive workplaces and provide support to employees with learning difficulties to ensure they can succeed and thrive in their roles.

Support for this can come from Access to Work in most cases and this takes the burden off the employer for at least the first few months helping to build a bridge between the employer and the employee.

Forever Savvy specialise in supporting people with Learning Disabilities in the work place with a job coach ensuring the employer and the employee has a long and successful working partnership.
